DNS

Domain Name System is a system that stores information about host names and domain names in the form of databases scattered (distributed databases) in a computer network, such as the Internet. DNS provides the IP address for each host name, and lists the mail transmission server (mail exchange server) that receives electronic mail (email) for each domain. Each hostname / computer has an IP address (internet protocol) itself consists of a series of numbers, DNS allows us to remember / find the website address / email by translating these numbers into names are easier to remember man.

Domain Name System is a system that serves to translate IP addresses into domain names and vice versa, from domain names to IP addresses. Thus, the host computer sends queries in the form of a computer name and domain name server which is then mapped into an IP address by DNS.

For example, when you type an address of a website for example: detik.com, the DNS will translate into an IP address: 203.190.242.69 to be understood by the computer.

By using DNS, users no longer need to memorize the IP address of a computer or network sites on the internet. Quite memorize the host name or the domain name. It could be an IP address on a computer may change, but the host name (computer name) can not be changed. Therefore, control tends to be consistent.

DNS is very easy to be implemented with the Internet protocol such as TCP / IP.
