What it is PAN ?

PAN or Personal Area Network is a telecommunications network that can only cover the area which is very close from one device to another. It was only a few meters away.

Example one network device is a Bluetooth PAN. Bluetooth only has a normal range of 10 meters to be connected. Examples of the use of a PAN is like when we connect a Bluetooth from Mobile to Laptop or Smartphone also connect a headset to use bluetooth.

The function / usability of PAN (Personal Area Network), among others:

    1) Connect the devices computer
    2) As a medium of communication between the devices themselves (personal communication)

Personal Area Network (PAN) is a computer network used for communication among computer devices (including telephones and personal digital assistants) close to one person. The device may or may not belong to the person. PAN typically range from a few meters. PANs can be used for communication between personal devices themselves (intrapersonal communication), or for connecting to a higher level network and the Internet (an uplink).

Personal Area Networks may be wired with computer buses such as USB and FireWire. A wireless personal area network (WPAN) can also be made possible with network technologies such as IrDA, Bluetooth, UWB, Z-Wave and ZigBee.

Technology

A Bluetooth PAN is also called a piconet, and consists of 8 to the active device in a master-slave relationship (a very large number of devices that can be connected to the "park" mode). The first Bluetooth device in the piconet is the master, and all devices that communicate with the slave master. A piconet typically has a range of 10 meters, although ranges up to 100 meters can be reached under ideal circumstances.

New innovations in Bluetooth antenna is permitted for these devices to greatly exceed the range for which they were originally designed. At DEF CON 12, a group of hackers known as "Flexilis" successfully connect two Bluetooth devices more than half a mile (800 m) away. They use an antenna with a scope and Yagi antenna, all attached to the rifle stock. A cable attached to the antenna Bluetooth card in the computer. They later named the antenna "The BlueSniper."
